The foundation stone of any top quality restoration is of course the bodyshell. A Wolfsburg Werks restoration involves far more than a skin deep make-over. We strip every bodyshell to its barest fundamentals, investigating, replacing and treating every single square inch of the structure.

AT WOLFSBURG WERKS WE DON’T REPAIR - WE RESTORE - AND THERE IN-LIES THE DIFFERENCE

Repairs are normally cosmetic at best in most workshops- not at Wolfsburg Werks, we complete all our restorations without modern filler. We strongly believe putting a patch over a hole and covering it over with filler is not a restoration and we will not carry out this type of cover up.
Restoration puts the part or panel back to as new condition with little or no sign of any 'repairs' being carried out. Beauty is more than just skin deep. We like to put detailed effort into the hidden areas that you can’t see.

With our restorations we reshape damaged panels with minor dents using the time honoured skill of panel beating. This entails using special hammers and hand weights which are shaped to fit the desired shape of the finished panel.

Where a panel is beyond repair we will always replace it with an original panel or a panel fabricated by ourselves.

The traditional art of Lead Loading is still practiced by Wolfsburg Werks. Final imperfections on panels and seams are Lead Loaded - this is the only method we use to finish off. Lead Loading gives a highly durable, corrosion resistant metal finish to repaired or partly repaired panels. Lead is also used where strength needs to be retained in panel finishing.

Certainly there are many hours of labour involved in a restoration of this quality, but our years of experience ensures that not a single hour is wasted or unreasonably billed.

All too often we have customers coming to us, disappointed they have previously wasted time and money on repairs elsewhere, which have ended up to be cosmetic and temporary. Not only have they wasted money on a poor restoration (and consequently paint finish) but also on the additional hours required to undo this work, even before any rebuilding commences.

When deciding on your restoration you need to decide between a "cosmetic restoration" that will have a short life span or a top quality restoration that will last for years.
